What we think of Dungeon Souls (Gaming) #KEYWASGIVEN

DISCLAIMER FREE KEY WAS GIVEN TO ME BY DEVS TO REVIEW!!!!!

Dungeon Souls is an indie hack and slash rouge-lite made by Lamina Studios and published by Black Shell media. Since this is a rogue-lite lets talk about its points of interest. Of course you have a rather simple combat laced with some parries and special abilities making it super fun to play. It has permadeath and unlockable characters and procedurally generated floors. You have to beat a certain amount of these ritual signs that afterwords opens up the exit to the next floor. This makes it rather exhilarating to play since after you unlock the floor a super boss starts to track you down. Another thing is the art style. Of course another pixel sprite game but man does it look gorgeous! I'm in awe ate the details on some of these sprites. I especially love the Skeleton boss you face 3 or 4 floors in.

The game is quite hard so be careful. Also the devs are pretty cool guys so you should definitely support them. Now into the soundtrack...that's where this game lacks in my opinion. Not that it is bad, it just sounds like most average indie games soundtracks. It is pleasing to listen to but it is no Witcher 3 soundtrack. The character unlocks are kinda hard as well and the three starting class suck. The first one is a quick but easy to die Thief who throws daggers at mid range. He was by far my least favorite to play so far.  Then there is an Archer who's range is decent but hes also weak and doesn't dish out much damage. And my favorite within my few hours of play is the Barbarian who has a huge axe and great health. He can kill anything and tank for a few hits. But of course you can pick up items or buy them from shops to make your stats increase or you can level up to increase your stats as well.

Final Verdict

Overall due to repetitive combat and a lackluster sound track it weighs on another fairly above average indie gem. Regardless you should all go buy it. I give it a 7 out of 10!
