[Manga] Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball Minus. Canon or Not? | Written By: Receo Gibson
While surfing on YouTube the other day with my cousin we discovered amongst all of the YouTube trash that populates the Internet a most exquisite find! Sure we may be a little late but the discovery was world shattering to see the least. We were watching this review by this guy who was talking about the inconsistencies of Bardock the Father of Goku and the new installation (which was released a year after Battle Of Z) Dragon Ball Minus: Departure Of The Fated Child.
Long story short the manga special briefly re-visits Goku's conception and the true motive of Planet Vegeta's destruction. On the planet vegeta, saiyans weren't born like regular babies. They were fertilized in test tubes and were basically incubated for about 3 years. This is how Goku was born. (Finding out that Goku was damn near 5 before he left planet vegeta makes for an interesting realization.)

Bardock is shown with his wife "Gine" (Goku's Mother) on the outskirts of the planet vegeta preparing a spacepod for Goku's departure to earth. This shit is crazy because you realize that Goku was cognizant of the fact that he had parents and that he wasn't from the planet Earth.
In this same panel you also see Goku crying out to his Gine and Bardock as he is sent to earth. What I find interesting and kind of cool is that she indicates Raditz will be notified of Goku's mission. This is crucial information. We all know the very first episode of Dragon Ball Z was the arrival of raditz. He was pretty agitated when Goku couldn't remember anything about the planet. Who knows?
It's all crazy to find out that this was issued because it creates a few inconsistencies and a few solved mysteries. I tried to be as spoil free as I could by leaving out "key" plot twists. It's only a chapter long so it won't be too long, but nonetheless Dragon Ball Minus was indeed created 100% by Akira Toriyama, id like to say this is cannon. What about you fellow slump.land residents? Do you think this should be labeled as apart of the original story? Drop comments below!
